Our Company
Vacutherm, Inc. was founded in 1980 as a pioneer in Vacuum Lumber Drying in North America and since has demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of the wood industry. Today, Vacutherm is
a Family owned and operated business with partners on almost
every continent. We are dedicated to working closely with every customer to develop new processes that will increase profitability through increasing production throughput and increasing quality, making it possible for our customers to supply Just-in-Time products.
AirVac Kiln
The Air Vacuum Dryer was first introduced to the North American market by Vacutherm in 1980. This system utilized a discontinuous vacuum in a round pressure vessel. In this process a vacuum would be drawn on the chamber and then periodically brought back to atmospheric pressure, during which point fans would begin circulating hot air between the piles. This method is able to dry 3 – 5 times faster than conventional methods and requires that the lumber be stickered and loaded similarly to a conventional kiln. Today Vacutherm produces the AirVac dryer as a continuous vacuum kiln which may be built with up to a 40,000 Board Foot Capacity.
In the mid 1980's Vacutherm began developing the VacuPress® vacuum press dryer, which utilizes a continuous vacuum to dry, while heating with aluminum hot water heating plates. This method has been proven to dry wood up to
12 times faster than conventional methods, and the added benefit of the rubber membrane has made it possible to keep the lumber flatter and straighter than ever before.
touchDry Controls
All Vacutherm vacuum kilns now use the new touchDry® kiln control system. This new control system integrates a wireless moisture meter, relative humidity and a 8.4" color touch screen of simple to use and accurate control. While developing this revolutionary drying process, Vacutherm also developed the Inflate-A-Fork® Incredible Inflatable Lumber Lifting Device in 1981. The Inflate-A-Fork has allowed lumber companies to eliminate 4 inch bolsters in Conventional Dry Kilns, increasing kiln capacity by up to 10%.
We are now offering the Vacutherm DH Kiln
(dehumidification kiln) which uses advance, but simple controls and
all components necessary to be installed in your existing building
or space. These units are low cost and simple use.
They may be used as a primary kiln and/or a pre-drier in front of a
vacuum kiln.
Vacutherm continues to develop new equipment and processes that improve the businesses of our customers. We welcome the opportunity to speak to you about your business.
